Responsibilities of baby nanny/newborn care specialist

There’s more to being a nanny nurse than being there for nighttime feedings. Some of the responsibilities of being a newborn care specialist at our Chicago newborn care/nanny agency include:

  • Bottle feeding babies, bringing baby to the mother for breastfeeding, and assisting with lactation issues
  • Sterilizing baby bottles
  • Burping and getting newborn back to sleep following feeding
  • Changing and diapering infants and toddlers
  • Laundering baby’s clothes
  • Establishing a regular feeding and sleeping schedule for newborn
  • Documenting infant’s sleeping, feeding, and changing times
  • Providing parental guidance and support, as needed
  • Educating parents how to care for twins, triplets, and multiples
  • Consulting on lactation issues

Your main responsibility as a newborn care specialist is to educate and support parents. You will relieve them from feeling overwhelmed by assuming tasks that would prohibit them from bonding with their newborn.
